“The music that I have learnt and want to give is like worshipping a God. It’s absolutely like a prayer.” — Pandit Ravi Shankar.
Hindustani classical music is an Indian classical music tradition that took shape in northern India in the 13th and 14th centuries A. D. It has its origins as a form of meditation and is based upon ragas and taals each designed to affect different "chakras" (energy centers, or "moods") in the path of the "Kundalini" of the human system.
Hindustani learning teaches you precision - every note, every rhythm in its place where it has to be. It strengthens and stabilizes your voice. It instills self-discipline, calms you down and makes you better at thinking and analytical activities.
We prepare our students for the AKHIL BHARTIYA GANDHARVA MAHAVIDYALAYA (ABGMV) board exams, where more than one lakh students take examinations every year from Prarambhik (Beginners level) to Sangeet Acharya (Ph.D. level). Formed in 1931, the ABGMV mandal was formed in 1931 and has been continuing its contribution to Hindustani classical music since then.
